Bengaluru, Aug 27: A student, who was seeking a medical seat in Bengaluru, was allegedly duped of Rs. 9.4 lakh.

In his complaint to the police, Balaji S (18), who hails from Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu, said that after he sought details for courses in Bengaluru on a social media platform, he was contacted by a man who identified himself as Rajkumar Iberwala.

The man assured the student that he could get a seat in a reputed medical college under the management quota and asked him to meet him in M G Road on Thursday.

He told Balaji to get copies of his certificates and Rs 9.4 lakh as initial payment. After a quick meeting, Rajkumar collected the documents and cash and told Balaji to meet him in the college the next day.

After waiting for hours at the college the next day, Balaji realised he had been duped. The Cubbon Park police have taken up a case.

we can call that student as Burude or no burude. little common sense he would have used while paying the huge amount in cash. maybe he has enough black money and he does not care for cash. so not bothered to pay in cash to unknown personb

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.
