Bengaluru, Oct 10: With November 3 by-election to Ramanagara Assembly seat is nearing, the BJP received a boost as Congress leader Chandrasekhar, son of Congress Karnataka Legislative Council member C M Lingappa joined the saffron party.
Mr Chandrasekhar was welcomed to the party fold by Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa, who is also the BJP State President, by handing over the party flag. Former Minister C P Yogishwar, who had joined BJP after quitting Congress before the Assembly election was also present.
Mr Chandrasekhar clarified that he is not joining with any demand for ticket or for any position in the BJP but said his father remaining in Congress and be its Legislative Council member was a different issue.
Speaking to newsmen, Mr Yeddyurappa said that Mr Chandrasekhar joining the party had brought additional strength to the party in the district.
