Astro Mohan bags three awards for photography

Udupi, Jul 26: Astro Mohan, Senior New Photographer of Udayavani Kannada daily has bagged three prizes in the photo contest conducted by India International Photography Council (IIPC). The contest was organised on the occasion of world photography day.

Astros' picture 'Udupi' won second prize in photo travel category, photo titled 'kitchen' won third place in monochrome section and 'bike stunt' picture won certificate merit in Photo-journalism category.

The award will be presented at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on August 19,2013, informed a release.

Mr Astro Mohan has an experience of over 20 years in Photo Journalism.

He hails from Bellary and completed his early education as an Art Graduate.  Mr. Mohan is also a magician, astrologer, palmist, orator, cine actor, artiste, art critic and to top it a prudent organiser of shows. It was his intense interest in astrology, which led to him being nicknamed as 'Astro', and now widely called by this nickname among friends and well-wishers.

He has earned over 2 dozens state and national level awards till date. His picture “Karavali Kambala” bagged the first place in an International Level Photography Competition, held by Nikon in United Kingdom. He has traveled and exhibited his photo worldwide and has also been felicitated by various photography associations, including the most recent IIPC award.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.

•    Gandhinagar Government School (near Press Club) – Two-wheelers and cars
•    Ladyhill Church parking area – Two-wheelers and cars
•    Canara School Ground, Mannagudda – Two-wheelers and cars

•    Scout and Guide Bhavana premises (behind Karavali Utsava Grounds) – Two-wheelers

•    Hat Hill Road – Two-wheelers

The police have appealed to the public to cooperate by following traffic rules and parking guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
