Shivamogga, Nov 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are trying to “draw political mileage” out of the death of a minor girl, said Shimoga district in-charge minister Kimmane Ratnakar.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday after briefing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about Nadndita death issue, the minister accused the saffron party of “plotting to incite communal violence”.
Brushing aside the allegations of the BJP leaders, he said that it was the government's responsibility to bring the guilty to book.
He said that the jurisdictional police were confident of apprehending the culprits within three days. “There is no question of protecting anybody”, he said.
He lamented that “vested interests and communal elements” had taken political advantage of the incident and shouted slogans and staged protests against him in Thirthahalli.
A disinformation campaign was also launched against him during the girl's funeral to instigate the crowd, he averred.
BJP blames minister
Meanwhile, the BJP?has accused Ratnakar of “shielding” the three young men, who according to Sangh Parivar abducted murdered Nandita.
“The minister is shielding the three suspects, who belong to a minority community. All this is for the sake of votes. We demand his resignation. We also demand an immediate inquiry into why the police and two government hospitals failed to perform their duties,” said BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member?Ayanur Manjunath.
Manjunath said it was shocking that two government hospitals (JC Hospital, Thirthahalli, and McGann Hospital in Shimoga) had referred the girl to KMC Hospital in Manipal.
“Despite no case having been registered, the top brass of Shimoga police went to the KMC Hospital. While there was a local police station in Manipal, the Thirthahalli police came forward to order a post-mortem. Why would such a thing happen if there was no intention to cover up the matter,” Manjunath demanded.
