Bangalore, Mar 19: Top leaders of the coalition government partners in Karnataka Congress and Janata Dal (S) today put up a united face after days of confusion and disgruntlement over seat sharing for the coming Lok Sabha elections and said vowed to put up a strong battle jointly to defeat the BJP in the state.
Addressing a crowded press conference, JD(S) national president H D Devegowda said the confusion over the joint campaign had been laid to rest after the top leaders of the parties had held meetings yesterday under the leadership of AICC president Rahul Gandhi and had a follow up meeting that lasted over three hours today.
The two parties had come to pre-poll understanding with Congress contesting 20 out of 28 LS seats in the state with JD(S) allotted the remaining 8. BJP had won 16 seats followed by Congress 10 and JD(S) 2 in the 2014 elections.
