Mangalore, Apr 12: In the wake of a tense situation prevailing in Kalladka in Bantwal taluk due to clashes between groups of two communities, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty alleged that police personnel in Dakshina Kannada were being misused by the ruling Congress party for intentionally booking BJP party workers with false charges of attempt to murder in communally-sensitive towns such as Kalladka, Ullal and Suratkal.

He also alleged that the workers who were actively involved in campaigning were picked and booked under false charges by police officials owing to pressure from the political party. “The ruling party is mistaken if they think that resorting to such attempts will weaken the party 's support. Even if few party workers are jailed, we will get ten times more volunteers,” he said.
He said that none of the arrested youth in the alleged false cases were currently in jail.
Congress leaders misleading people
Criticising Congress leaders in the district for engaging in personal attacks on BJP, its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi or its local candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel, he said that the congress leaders should not try to deceive the voters by making misleading statements.
He said that a tally of the achievements of individual party should be made to determine whose contributions to the district were greater.
