Congress will get less than 100 seats: Ananth Kumar

Mangalore, Apr 1: BJP national leader and Bangalore South Lok Sabha candidate Ananth Kumar stated that the Congress tally of Lok Sabha seats in the Parliament would be less than 100 after the elections in a recap of the 1977 general elections when the ruling Congress party lost its power.

Speaking at a press conference in the city on Tuesday, he said that the honeymoon period of the Congress government after the assembly elections in the state was over. Within a year, the Congress has lost the trust of the people. There is also a general feeling in the state that the Lok Sabha candidates chosen by the party to contest in the elections were poor selections, he said.

Mr Ananth Kumar said that all the surveys conducted by media channels showed BJP as the front-runner in the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress leaders and Muslim youth have been chanting as a chorus that there was no Modi ' wave in the country, which shows that they are they fearful of BJP 's win, he said.

He said that ever since the BJP declared Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate in September 2013, the party had held close to 274 successful rallies across the country. In comparison, Congress leader and star campaigner Rahul Gandhi is a failure, as he is unable to draw crowds at his public rallies. Even the Congress is not ready to project him as their prime ministerial candidate, he said.

Speaking on the BJP 's agenda in the coming months, the national leader said that the BJP members were involved in campaigning with a positive agenda, while Congress did the opposite. “We want support from the voters in full majority in order to save the country from economic, security and governance crisis. We request an able government under an able leader,” he said.

Rai should tender apology to the people '

In response to an allegation made by district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai against BJP Lok Sabha candidate and sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mr Ananth Kumar said that the party awaited whether Rai would apologise for his allegation or resign from politics. The minister should tender an apology to the media and the people in Hampankatta in the heart of the city stating that he had made the allegation out of ignorance. If he fails to do so, he should resign from politics as he himself proclaimed, he said.
