Mangaluru, Mar 23: Two persons have been arrested by sleuths of Bantwal Town Police Station on charge of theft and illegal transportation of cattle.
The arrested are Muhammed Shariff from Puttur Mukve, and Abdul Rahiman from Kedila village in Dakshina Kannada.
Acting on a tip off the police intercepted a vehicle near Jakribettu village and managed to catch the duo.
According to police the accused had stolen jersey cows from a cattle shed of a house at Belthangady and transporting them to a slaughter house. Cows and the vehicle have been seized by the police.
It is learnt that some Sangh Parivar activists passed the information to the police about the cattle transportation. However, local residents said that the role of Sangh Parivar activists cannot be ruled out in the transportation.
