“It is time for all to join hands to strengthen the Congress party,” he said, while participating in a programme at the KPCC office. The event was held to mark the death anniversary of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Parameshwara said elections to the state Assembly is 2 years away.

“It is time to set aside our differences and work for the party. We should retain power,” he added.

The minister said the BJP is good at getting publicity without working. But the Congress government has done sufficient work. There should be no hesitation to market the same to the people, he added.

Energy Minister D?K?Shivakumar said that Rajiv Gandhi encouraged second rung leaders to grow. He granted voting rights for 18-year-olds. A school in the name of Rajiv Gandhi to train politicians should be established, he felt.
