Kasaragod, Dec 10: Ending three days of suspense shrouding the death of 38-year-old Santhosh, a former kabadi player, the police have arrested his cousin in connection with the well-orchestrated murder.

Manoj, 37, a resident of Karyamkode near Neeleswaram, was rounded up in dramatic fashion even as he was engaged in the post-funeral rites of his cousin. Santhosh was found strangulated to death inside his house.
It was initially presumed that Santhosh died in his sleep. However, a few local people, who suspected foul play, alerted the police in Neeleswaram, who arranged to carry out a detailed post-mortem examination at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
The examination revealed that Santhosh was strangulated to death with a nylon rope, police sources said.
The police, who received clues about Manoj’s possible role in the murder, hid the details of the investigation to facilitate the smooth arrest of the accused.
A senior police officer said Santhosh was a habitual drunkard and often harassed his wife and mother. The duo used to share their grievances with Manoj, who was a regular visitor to the house.
