On?March 9, Ravi, MLA from Chikkamagaluru, tweeted, “Shameless Gandhis ruled India for almost 6 decades & yet they couldn’t build a hospital in India where Sonia Gandhi could get treated”. Later, he tweeted to @office of Rahul Gandhi, “Admit his mother Sonia to Victoria Hospital in Benglauru? @CMofKarnataka would definitely take good care of her.”

In another tweet, he said, “Wondering if Sonia Gandhi has travelled abroad for medical treatment or transferring funds from her present accounts to safer places.” Sonia Gandhi went abroad on March 9 reportedly for a health checkup.

Reacting strongly to Ravi’s tweets, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters that Ravi’s statements are irresponsible. Sonia Gandhi sacrificed the prime minister’s post for the sake of the country. One should be responsible while commenting against such persons, he said.

State Congress working president Dinesh Gundu Rao termed the BJP MLA a “pervert”. “Ravi keeps talking about Hindutva. But how appropriate are his comments against the Congress leader? It is not fair to make such comments. This also shows his lack of respect for women,” he added. His tweet read - “...exposes his sick mindset. Its a reflection of the garbage that occupies his brain. Sad he is stooping to such low levels.”

Energy Minister D?K?Shivakumar said arrangements should be made to get Ravi admitted to a mental hospital for making such comments against a leader who gave up the prime minister’s post twice.

Mangaluru, Dec 7: A 34-year-old fruit and vegetable trader in Mangaluru has reportedly lost ₹33.1 lakh after falling victim to an online investment scam run through a fake mobile app.

Police said the scam began in September, when the victim received a link on Facebook. Clicking it connected him to a WhatsApp number, where an unidentified person introduced a high-return investment scheme and instructed him to download an app.

To build trust, the fraudster asked him to invest ₹30,000 on September 24. The trader soon received ₹34,000 as “profit,” convincing him the scheme was genuine. Over the next two months, he transferred money in multiple instalments via Google Pay and IMPS to different scanner codes and bank accounts shared by the scammers. Between September 24 and December 3, he ended up sending a total of ₹33.1 lakh.

When he later requested a refund of his investment and promised returns, the scammers demanded additional payments, claiming he needed to pay a “service tax” first. Even after he paid a small amount, no money was returned, and the scammers continued pressuring him for more.

A case has been registered at the CEN Crime Police Station.
