The victims, belonging to a Dalit community at Mota Samadiyara village of Una taluka in Gir Somnath, claimed that they were skinning an already dead cow, while the six accused claimed that the animal was killed before being skinned, police said.

A purported video showing the persons being beaten with iron rods and sticks went viral on social media platforms like Whatsapp. In the video, some people are seen chained to a car, while the accused are seen thrashing them mercilessly.

"We have arrested three persons in this connection while three others are absconding. We have also called a team of forensic science laboratory (FSL) experts and veterinary doctors to ascertain if the cow was already dead before being skinned or was killed for skin," Gir Somnath district's Deputy Superintendent of Police K M Joshi said.

The incident took place yesterday when the six people started beating up the Dalits after they saw them skinning a dead cow near Mota Samadiyara village, which is a forest area, Joshi said.

At least two persons sustained severe head injuries and were referred to Junagadh civil hospital for treatment, he said.

According to an FIR lodged at Una police station, the six accused, identified as Ramesh Giri, Balwant Simer, Ramesh Bhagwan, Rakesh Joshi, Rasikbhai and Nagjibhai Vaniya, came in a car and allegedly started hurling casteist abuses on the group on finding that they were skinning a dead cow.

They then allegedly took out iron rods and wooden sticks from their car and started beating them up. Around seven persons sustained injuries.

According to complainant Vasrambhai Sarvaiya, the accused also looted three mobile phones.

Out of the six accused, Ramesh, Rakesh and Nagjibhai have been arrested so far, police said.

A case was lodged under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 395 (dacoity), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous means or weapons), 323 (causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and relevant sections of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and further probe was on, police added.

The government is wasting so much time on such trivial issues. It is because they have given free hand to Bajrang Dal, Ram Sena, Hindu Sena and such other outfits that unemployed youth are taking law into their own hands.
Nothing will be achieved from all this uproar about the cows and beef. Even now Hindus are the biggest consumers of cow meat. Because of all this lawlessness will increase, more goondas will rise and innocent people will be terrorized.

We are talking abt digital India, 4G, etc etc,....
It takes 6 to 8 months to confirm if the meat was beef or mutton. Initially proven Mutton later became beef........ Strange laboratory or may be wd some technology we can transform mutton to beef and vice versa.
Ppl. Time to think intellectually and stop falling prey to hands of hate mongers.

Whatever the cow is killed before or after, do the people have the right to punish them? This is how the dalits are treated in Gujrat.

Mangaluru: In a decisive move to tackle the city’s deteriorating sanitation infrastructure, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has announced a massive ₹1,200 crore action plan to overhaul its underground drainage (UGD) network.

The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner and MCC Administrator Darshan HV, aims to bridge "missing links" in the current system that have left residents grappling with overflowing sewage and environmental hazards.

The Breaking Point

The announcement follows a high-intensity phone-in session on Thursday, where the DC was flooded with grievances from frustrated citizens. Residents, including Savithri from Yekkur, described a harrowing reality: raw sewage from apartments leaking into stormwater drains, creating a "permanent stink" and turning residential zones into mosquito breeding grounds.

"We are facing immense difficulties due to the stench and the health risks. Local officials have remained silent until now," one resident reported during the session.

The Strategy: A Six-Year Vision

DC Darshan HV confirmed that the proposed plan is not a temporary patch but a comprehensive six-year roadmap designed to accommodate Mangaluru’s projected population growth. Key highlights of the plan include:

•    Infrastructure Expansion: Laying additional pipelines to connect older neighborhoods to the main grid.

•    STP Crackdown: Stricter enforcement of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) regulations. While new apartments are required to have functional STPs, many older buildings lack them entirely, and several newer units are reportedly non-functional.

•    Budgetary Push: The plan has already been discussed with the district in-charge minister and the Secretary of the Urban Development Department. It is slated for formal presentation in the upcoming state budget.
