Kota police station head constable Ashok and constable Manjappa have been admitted to a hospital after the assault. Two of the accused were arrested in connection with the assault while the prime accused is still at large.

When Ashok and Manjappa had been to arrest the accused Ramesh under charges of theft in a different case, they had accurate information that he would be found near SCDCC Bank in Hunsumakki.

They apprehended him and were plying him in an auto-rickshaw when all of a sudden Ramesh pushed the auto driver Raghavendra aside and made attempts to overturn the auto on Dabbekatte-Kedoor road. He even tore the clothes of the on-duty police personnel and broke away when they tried to stop him.

After giving chase, the personnel caught up with Ramesh, when he again escaped their clutches and leaped inside his uncle's house in Kedoor. When the personnel reached the house, they were obstructed and assaulted by Ramesh, his sister Mamata, brother-in-law Manjunath and brothers Ganesh and Shrinivas with rods, before they were threatened.

The accused and his family members even assaulted those who came forward to rescue the police personnel from being assaulted, including auto driver Raghavendra and Bhandary. Kota police have registered a case based on written complaints of Raghavendra and HC Ashok.

In this regard, the police have arrested Ramesh's brothers Ganesh and Shrinivas, while Ramesh is still at large.
