Mysuru, Mar 2: A brief coincidental meeting between AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh and the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, at the Government Guesthouse in Mysuru on Wednesday has set tongues wagging in political circles here.

As Mr. Gowda was interacting with presspersons in the guesthouse after attending the marriage of the former Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore, K.S. Rangappa’s son, in the city, Mr. Singh, who was in Mysuru on a vacation, walked in to greet the former Prime Minister. After brief exchange of pleasantries between the two, Mr. Singh departed. The brief meeting between the two comes in the backdrop of efforts being made by a section of the Congress leaders to prevail upon the JD(S) leadership to remain out of the race for the upcoming bypolls to Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies.
Mr. Gowda, however, said a final decision on the candidates will be taken after the former CM, H.D. Kumaraswamy, who had toured both the constituencies, submits a report.
