Bengaluru, Dec 2: In a suicide pact, a dejected diabetician killed his mother and sister by administering them an insulin overdose and attempted to end his life in Bengaluru’s Rajarajeshwarinagar on Friday night. However, Dr S Govinda Prakash, 48, survived and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Prakash killed his mother Mookambika, 78, and sister S Shyamala, 46 at their residence in Ideal Home Township. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when Prakash’s father Subbaraya Bhat, sleeping in another room, woke up to find three lying motionless bodies. He immediately alerted his relatives and friends.

Police said a doctor known to the family rushed there. He said the women had died but Prakash was still alive. While the bodies were shifted to Victoria Hospital, Prakash was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police recovered a death note in Kannada which said ‘We are committing suicide and no one is responsible for it’. All three had signed the letter. Subbaraya Bhat told cops his son had given him a sleeping pill on Friday night. “I don’t take such pills. Saying I snore loudly at night, Prakash gave me two sleeping pills. That’s why I got up late on Saturday morning,” he said.

Father’s statement

Subbaraya Bhat told police his son, wife and daughter had health issues. “I moved to this house in 2002 and all was fine untill my wife started suffering from back pain. Around the same time, my son and daughter complained of severe headache which was migraine. My children had to take six tablets a day while wife took four,” he said.

Bhat added that his wife was upset at their children’s family life. “ She was depressed that our daughter got divorced and our son remained a bachelor,” he told cops.
