Bangalore, Jun 15: Activist S R Hiremath has accused Union railways minister D V Sadananda Gowda of having illegally acquired a pasture field in Jala Hobli of Bangalore North taluk and having built a bungalow on the land.

Addressing media persons at a press conference in the city on Saturday, Samaj Parivartana Samudaya leader said that a land area of 7.5 acres of pasture fields (under Survey No 272/P4) in Bangalore North taluk had been illegally acquired by the union minister Sadananda Gowda, who had also illegally built a bungalow on the land in the name of his wife. This is a clear violation of law and the minister does not deserve to remain in the post he currently occupies, he said, urging that he should resign as the Union minister for Railways.
He said that as per government rules, one could not build a residence or a commercial building on pasture land or land in the green zone. By building a residence on the illegally acquired land, it is clear that the union minister has violated the law. Hence, prime minister Narendra Modi should conduct a judicial inquiry into this matter, he urged.
Mr Hiremath also alleged that minister D V Sadananda Gowda and D N Jeevaraj had combined their two individual sites in HSR Layout in the city and constructed a commercial complex in the plot of land. In a recent court verdict declared by a bench of judges including Justice D V Shailendra Kumar, it has been indicated that the construction of the complex was illegal, he said.
He said that a large amount of good quality timber looted from the forests of Chikmagalur had been used in the construction of the building. This amounts to misuse of public wealth for personal use, he said.
