Eight killed in?lorry-MUV collision near Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, Jul 20: Eight people, including two children and four women, were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a lorry and multi-utility vehicle (Cruiser) near Doginala in Aland taluk on Tuesday. Fourteen people were injured in the accident.

The victims are Gajabai Ingale, 59, Swapnil Dogale, 4, Krishna Ingale, 4, Phoolchand Dharme, 52, Varsha Dogale, 28, Sanjay Ingale, 34, Kanthabai Ingale and Sagajabai Aland, both 55. All of them were residents of Panchamahal, Paadoli and Kanagara villages in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra.

As many as 22 people were travelling in the Cruiser and were on their way to the Dattatreya temple in Devala Ganagapura in Afzalpur taluk from Panchamahal, to take part in the Guru Poornima celebrations when the accident occurred. The lorry was on its way to Aland from Kalaburagi, said Superintendent of Police N Shashikumar. Among the 14 injured, five have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment, while nine others have been admitted to private hospitals in Aland. The condition of two is said to be critical. District incharge Minister Sharanprakash Patil visited the district hospital and enquired about the condition of the injured.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said doctors had been directed to provide proper treatment to the injured. The government will also foot the medical bills of those who have been admitted to private hospitals. Since the victims and the injured are from Maharashtra, a decision on giving compensation will be taken as per law, he added.

The news conference less than five hours after the crash was held because It was important to provide information sooner rather than later, Getting said. From a public health standpoint, we wanted to put people s minds at ease that there was not an ongoing risk. The prosecutor acknowledged that the mass-casualty incident, coming 3 months after six people were killed in the Kalamazoo shootings , was hard on the community.

Melkar (Bantwal): The 9th Annual Day celebration of SMR Public School, titled “EXCELLENTIA”, was held on December 15 with great enthusiasm and dignity, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey towards academic excellence and holistic development.

The Annual Report was presented by the Headmistress, Ms. Fathimathul Zaheera, highlighting the school’s achievements and progress during the academic year. The Presidential Address was delivered by the Chairman of SMR Public School, Dr. Haji S. M. Rasheed, who emphasised the vital role of education in shaping students’ futures and stressed the importance of discipline, dedication, and consistent effort in achieving 100 per cent academic results.

Secretary of SMR Public School, Mr. Rifath Ahmed, and PTA President, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, were also present on the occasion.

The Annual Day celebration showcased the collective efforts of students and teachers and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to quality education and all-round development. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, parents, and well-wishers for their support. The 9th Annual Day—EXCELLENTIA—was a memorable and successful event, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
