Bengaluru, Jul 6: Repton School, one of England's historic schools, on Tuesday announced its expansion plans by opening satellite schools in Bengaluru. The first facility offering nursery courses will be opened at Whitefield in August 2016.
The main campus will be located on 34 acres in the southeast part of the city. The school would have faculty from the United Kingdom as well. Representatives of the school, however, said that they were yet to decide on the fee for the courses.
Facilities on campus
The campus will also have a dedicated sports academy powered by Tenvic, founded by Anil Kumble. Students would be trained in sports based on their age groups. To begin with, the students would be taught Indian games such as gilli danda and lagori and later offered nine of the 22 games accepted by the Indian Olympic Association such as tennis and hockey.
Why Bengaluru?
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Mark Atkins, COO of Repton International Schools said that they chose Bengaluru over the other places as it is multicultural and has an aspirant population.
“Even in our other campuses, we have noticed that Indian students give a lot of importance to education unlike in other parts of the world,” he said adding that this was also an attitude which made India a prefered destination for expansion.
Atkins said that with each child's learning ability being different, there would be no fixed age for admissions into the school. “There is nothing as a fixed age to enter the school,” he added The nursery is a course of five years at Repton Schools.
