Kasaragod, Sep 19: When the news of the killing of 52-year-old Farooq killing reached back home, finishing touches were being given to his new home at Panayapilly, near Mattancherry in Kerala.

Farooq, an AC mechanic settled in Jizan, took his wife Nadira and five daughters to Saudi Arabia about 16 years ago.
His elder daughter Fazida was married off to Rashid, a businessman settled in Fort Kochi a few years ago.
On Friday morning, Rashid first received a phone call from one of his relatives in Saudi.
“The caller said Farooq was grievously injured in a shell attack by Houthi rebels across the border in Yemen. About an hour later, I got another call confirming his death,” Rashid said.
Prior to the attack, Farooq had shifted all his four daughters and wife to a safe place.
Later, he along with a couple of other persons got into another vehicle to exit the place but tragedy stuck in the form of a shell attack by the rebels.
Alongside Farooq, one of his cousins, Hisham, also suffered grievous injuries in the accident.
“We have been unable to confirm Hisham’s status as the Saudi army has taken control over the entire region. They are permitting nobody to enter inside or leave out the place,” Rashid added.
Relatives are yet to get any solid information as to when the body of Farooq will be brought to Kochi.
