New Delhi, Jul 11: Newly appointed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committe president Dinesh Gundu Rao said here on Tuesday said the Congress chief, Rahul Gandhi, had directed the party state unit to extend full cooperation for the successful running of the JD(S)-Congress coalition government in Karnataka.

Gundu Rao, along with the newly appointed K{PCC working president, Eshwar Khandre, met Rahul here.

Emerging out of the meeting, Dinesh said that the national president had advised them that the state unit should extend full cooperation to the smooth running of the coalition government.

Rahul’s sermon to the state leaders came in the backdrop of a section of party leaders openly expressing their unhappiness over the alliance with the JD(S). Even at the meeting of the defeated Congress leaders in the recently concluded Assembly polls, convened by the party in Bengaluru on Monday, some of the leaders have cautioned the top brass that the alliance with the arch political rival, JD(S), would hurt the Congress in the long run.

Dinesh said Rahul had also advised them to strengthen the party by attracting youth and also, to win maximum seats in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Dinesh also said that the expansion of the Cabinet in the coalition government and appointment in boards and corporations were not discussed in the meeting.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
