Bangalore, Aug 1: The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) on Thursday booked FIR against opposition leader Jagadish Shettar for allegedly violating land revenue rules while allotting prime land in Bangalore city to an individual as chief minister in April 2013.

IPC section 420 and other laws in Karnataka Land Revenue act has been imposed on Shettar, Sundaresh (beneficiary) and revenue department officials. A Prasad, director of Vokkaliga Sangha, had lodged complaint with BMTF.

Shettar has been accused of sanctioning to Sundaresh 4 acre land in Srigandadakaval, heart of the city, earmarked for public and semi-public purposes. He said to have signed the file after calendar of events for assembly polls were notified.

Prasad and M Nagaraj, secretary of Vokkaligara Sangha had alleged that the land was valued as an agricultural land at Rs 1.50 crore an acre and Sundaresh was asked to remit Rs 6 crore as its value, far less that its real value estimated at Rs 80 crore.

Prasad questioned the rationale of sanctioning the land within 12-km radius of the Bangalore city because the Karnataka Land Grant Rules prohibits sanctioning of land with a radius of 16-km. The land was sanctioned to Sanga in 1967, he said.

He said that the land sanctioned to Sundaresh was part of 47.11 acres in Srigandadakaval which belonged to Sangha and Golden Valley Education Trust.

Reacting to the incident, Shettar said that he allotted land in accordance with law and as per court direction. "This is Congress sponsored complaint against me. The issue has cropped up after I took up the denotification of land in Arkavathy layout by chief minister Siddaramaiah. I won't yield for these kinds of tactics and will continue to fight against the CM."
