Four killed, two hurt as SUV rams lorry

Bagalkot, May 2: Four persons were killed on the spot and two others severely injured after the SUV they were travelling by rammed a stationary lorry near Hosur Cross on National Highway 169 (Chitradurga-Solunar) on Friday evening.

Police have identified the deceased as Shanthkumar, 50, a resident of Bangalore, Niranjankumar, 35, a resident of Bhujang Nagar in Sandur, Mohammed Pasha Gulam Rasool Sheikh, 32, a resident of Gulbarga and Mohammed Saab Doddamani, 29, a resident of Kodihaal village in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district.

The injured are SUV driver?Mariyano Rudis, a native of Goa and Sharanabasu Hemanna Gadeada, 25, a resident of Kodihaal in Hungund. They have been shifted to a private hospital in Bagalkot. The condition of Rudis is said to be critical, police said.

The accident occurred when the victims were returning to Sandur after taking part in a friend's marriage held at Korawara village in Sindagi taluk of Bijapur district, police added.

The impact was such, that the SUV (Scorpio) was completely mangled and the bodies mutilated.

Police added that all the victims were employees of NMD Mining Company in Sand in Bellary district.

Melkar, Dec 17: The 17th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, themed “Fusion-2K25,” was celebrated with dignity and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. The programme reflected the college’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, character building, and the holistic development of students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Asif Mohammed, whose presence greatly enriched the occasion. The celebration was further graced by the chief guests Mr. P. B. Ahmed Mudassir and Mr. Nissar Fakeer Mohammed, along with the distinguished guests of honour Mr. B. A. Nazeer and Mr. Ibrahim Gadiyar. In their inspiring addresses, the guests encouraged the graduating students and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the management, faculty, and students.
