Mangaluru, Aug 30: Repeated landslides in the ghat section between Sakleshapur in Hassan and Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada is posing a challenge to clear the tracks and resume train service between Karnataka Capital Bengaluru and Port City Mangaluru.

Between August 14 and 28, there have been 62 landslips in the section of which 30 have been cleared. It falls under the jurisdiction of Mysuru Division of South Western Railways (SWR).
The authorities have deployed nearly 200 workers and 13 heavy earth moving machines for track restoration.
The Chief PRO of SWR, Vijaya, said out that as per estimates nearly 80,000 cubic metres of earth is yet to be cleared.
There was a major landslip in the section on Tuesday and authorities are of the opinion that restoration of track for safe train operations may be possible only after 15 days.
