According to the police, Gopalakrishna's daughter Megha Vandana, a BBM graduate, has stated in the complaint that her friend has misused her ID to flirt and send messages to hundreds of male Facebook users.

The accused also allegedly used the complainant's photo as her profile picture of Whats App messenger.

Subsequently, Meghaa, daughter of former MLA Belur Gopalkrishna, lodged a complaint with police that Chennai resident Prathima, 21, misused her photographs and identity to flirt with men.
Police have arrested Prathima and registered a case under the IT Act and for impersonation of the girl.

Meghaa, a BBM graduate and resident of RT Nagar, said she was friends with Prathima but was not in touch with her. However, Prathima allegedly used her photos of Meghaa and her identity to create a fake account in Facebook.

Using this, she started chatting with many people and in some cases started chatting with some men using a mobile chatting service, with Meghaa's photo.

Meghaa learnt about the impersonation when she met a friend recently. The friend recalled a conversation they had on chat sometime ago. Meghaa was surprised as she couldn't recollect any such chat. On checking the number used for the chat, she realized that someone was using her photo and a fake account.

"I came to know about this a few days ago. When my daughter told me about this, I asked her to collect enough details about the case. Later we went to RT Nagar police and filed a complaint. Prathima was with Meghaa in school but they never kept in touch," said Belur Gopalkrishna.

Police said following up on the case, a team left for Chennai and made the arrest.

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.
