Mangaluru, Nov 1: Hindu Jagarana Vedike member Manoj (40), an accused in cases of murder and extortion was booked uneder Goonda Act (The Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum Grabbers Act, 1985).
Manoj, a resident of Surthakal, is the fourth person against whom Mangaluru Police Commissioner R Hithendra on Saturday invoked the Goonda Act.
“It's a message we are sending out to anti-social elements,” Mr. Hithendra said. Manoj is reportedly involved in 13 cases of murder, extortion among other criminal cases.
