The harmonious culture is only possible through tolerance. The ideals of Lord Bahubali is relevant forever.

Asserting that Dharma is the way of life, the CM said the people who fight in the name of Dharma should realise that people should live Dharma, as the way they live their life. Dharma is totally different from the caste or religion. Dharma stresses on harmony and brotherhood. The nation with the history of tolerance, stands apart from all other nations across the globe.

Stating that Bhagwan Bahubali is the testimony of peace, tolerance, non violence and sacrifice, the CM said people should adopt these ideals as a way of life. He added that achievements are possible through sacrifice and lamented that the anti-social elements are more focussed on inhuman activities which should be discarded by the civilised society. Lamenting that despite several achievements in the field of science and technology, the humans are yet to realise that humanitarian virtues are the basic ideals to any success. “We know how to fly in the sky, how to swim like fishes in water, but we have failed to know the way of decent life. We do not know how to live decently on earth,” he rued.

Human walls

Pointing out that the walls between humans is detrimental to the health of the society, the CM said that the greediness has resulted in construction of the huge walls between human beings.

He stressed that there is a need for the humanitarian atmosphere which emphasis on brotherhood and added, ‘It should be we and not I’. “We are all one to the God and he never differentiates among us in the name of religion, caste or creed,” he said and added that India is the only country, which has achieved freedom adopting the way of non-violence.

Later, speaking at the St Lawrence Church annual feast celebrations at Attur in Karkala, the CM said the government had allotted Rs 2.5 crore to the infrastructure development of the church. In fact, the Church stands significant as people irrespective of caste or creed take part in the annual celebrations.

Mangaluru: In a decisive move to tackle the city’s deteriorating sanitation infrastructure, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has announced a massive ₹1,200 crore action plan to overhaul its underground drainage (UGD) network.

The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner and MCC Administrator Darshan HV, aims to bridge "missing links" in the current system that have left residents grappling with overflowing sewage and environmental hazards.

The Breaking Point

The announcement follows a high-intensity phone-in session on Thursday, where the DC was flooded with grievances from frustrated citizens. Residents, including Savithri from Yekkur, described a harrowing reality: raw sewage from apartments leaking into stormwater drains, creating a "permanent stink" and turning residential zones into mosquito breeding grounds.

"We are facing immense difficulties due to the stench and the health risks. Local officials have remained silent until now," one resident reported during the session.

The Strategy: A Six-Year Vision

DC Darshan HV confirmed that the proposed plan is not a temporary patch but a comprehensive six-year roadmap designed to accommodate Mangaluru’s projected population growth. Key highlights of the plan include:

•    Infrastructure Expansion: Laying additional pipelines to connect older neighborhoods to the main grid.

•    STP Crackdown: Stricter enforcement of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) regulations. While new apartments are required to have functional STPs, many older buildings lack them entirely, and several newer units are reportedly non-functional.

•    Budgetary Push: The plan has already been discussed with the district in-charge minister and the Secretary of the Urban Development Department. It is slated for formal presentation in the upcoming state budget.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
