Bengaluru, May 23: Soon after taking oath as chief minister of Karnataka on Wednesday, H D K Kumaraswamy advised the religious leaders and heads of the mutts to stop politicking and concentrate on spreading religion and being a guide to the government
The new CM’s statement came after a seer in central Karnataka who is apparently lenient towards BJP spoke ill of the alliance.
“Seers should understand their responsibility and I am against politics based on caste. Their (seers’) responsibility is to assume the role of teachers and guide the government,” he said, and added that he would not involve in appeasing one section or caste in society.
“My government is for the 6.5 crore people of the State. Seers should stop making political statements. Otherwise, they should enter politics,” Mr. Kumaraswamy said.
