
He was speaking at a meeting of doctors of private medical institutions on checking the spread of H1N1 at the District Offices Complex here on Tuesday.
Dr. Bairy said that a total of 42 cases had been reported in the district, of whom, seven had died.
Of the 22 cases of H1N1 reported in Udupi taluk, four persons had died. Of the three cases of H1N1 reported in Karkala taluk, one had died. In Kundapur taluk, of the 15 cases reported, two had died.
He told the heads of various private medical institutions to inform the department as soon as a case of H1N1 was detected.
The department had sufficient medicine in its stock to deal with the disease and quick detection would help in better treatment, Dr. Bairy said.
