Bengaluru, Jan 29: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday directed the State government to take necessary action against pre-university colleges that lack mandatory infrastructure as per the norms.

While fixing a deadline of three months to take action in respect of these 22 colleges, the Bench gave six months’ time for authorities to take similar action against other PU colleges lacking basic infrastructure. However, the Bench made it clear that action should be taken only after an inspection and providing an opportunity for each institution to explain their stand as per the law.
Section 4 of the Rules stipulates various infrastructure, like own building, specific number and size for classrooms, staff rooms, waiting room for girls and boys, water storage facilities, bicycle stands, etc.
