Bengaluru, Dec 29: Fissure likely to have appeared in the 6-month-old JD(S)-Congress coalition government in the State as the Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy chose to ignore AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal’s recommendation to allocate ministry of Ports to one of the newly inducted eight Congress ministers.
Mr Venugopal, who is also party incharge of Karnataka affairs, after holding parleys with the party supremo, Rahul Gandhi had sent a list of portfolios to be allocated to the newly inducted eight Congress ministers, including that of Home, Forest, Medical education, Municipal Administration and others.
While Mr Kumaraswamy immediately sent a letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala to assign the portfolios to the ministers, who were waiting to assume the offices, he did not oblige the Congress party’s recommendations to allocate Port ministry to R B Thimmapur. The AICC leader had allocated Thimmapur, the Port and Inland Transport department, from the PWD along with the ministry of Sugar.
