Police also called upon the general public to report suspicious activity or violation of law at 100 and 103.

Other major issues of concern for Bengaluru's New Year revellers would be transportation, traffic diversion and restrictions on pedestrians.

Aimed at extending public transportation, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will run all G10 bus services between 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday to Majestic, Marathahalli, Electronic City, Jayanagar and Banashankari among others while Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation will run services till 2 am.

Traffic restrictions include no entry for all vehicles except police and essential services from any direction in and around M.G. Road from 8 p.m. on Thursday to 1 a.m. on Friday.

"On Brigade Road, pedestrians can only proceed by walk from M.G. Road junction to Opera Junction and walking in the opposite direction is prohibited. Instead if they want to come to M.G. Road, they can do so by proceeding via Residency Road cross," said a statement from police department.

Police also appealed to revellers enjoying alcoholic drinks to stay safe.

Aimed at containing unruly motorists on New Year's eve, the police department issued a stern warning to people to refrain from wheeling, drag racing and negligent and rash driving.
