Mangalore, Jul 24: Following the atrocities committed by the authorities of the St. Aloysius College, Mangalore on June 26 when they brought a JCB Bulldozer and physically demolished the residential house in which John Baptist Lewis and his daughters were living after removing all his original documents and then burying every item that the family possessed right up to their money, jewellery and clothes under the debris, the Police registered offences for serious charges relating to rioting, dacoit and attempt to Murder.

Four employees were arrested but the main Accused persons Fr Denzil Lobo, Fr Almedia, Fr Cyril, Vice Principal john D'Silva and Lawyer M.P. Noronha have been shown as absconding by the Police.

The Karnataka State Commission for Women has taken stringent action because the facts indicated that when the daughters tried to stop the demolition, the Priests had ordered the bulldozer to be run over them. In order to prevent them being killed, the Priests then pulled them out of the way, assaulted them and molested them and physically restrained them till the demolition was over. The Commission has also placed this case before the High Court.

The most shocking and atrocious aspect of this incident is that the dispute relating to the property is sub-judice before the Civil Court. Obviously, in order to frustrate those legal proceedings and make it impossible for the Court to decide the case and grant any relief(s), the Priests took the Law into their own hands, brought about 40 goondas and another 40 of their students and in total Contempt for the Court Proceedings, demolished the Property. This displays a level of arrogance on the part of the Priests that indicates that they have no respect for the Law or for the Courts. The case has been placed before the High Court and proceedings under the Contempt of Courts Act are to follow against all those responsible.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
