Hindus must have 4 kids, not 40 puppies, says foul-mouthed Sadhvi, asks non-Hindus to leave India

New Delhi, Feb 2: Nearly one-and-a-half-year after Narendra Modi used puppy analogy while referring to the deaths of thousands of innocent Muslims in the 2002 Gujarat riots, a female leader of saffron party has delivered a similar hate speech against Muslims sparking off a fresh controversy.

Sadhvi Prachi

The saffron robe-wearing Sadhvi Prachi, in a bid to defend her recent controversial remarks, asserted that she only asked Hindu women to produce four children, not 40 puppies. "I asked people to have 4 kids, not 40 puppies," she said.

Speaking at a public meeting she leveled a series of allegations against non-Hindu Indians and accused Muslims of trapping Hindu girls through ‘love jihad’.  “These people who give birth to 35-40.... are spreading love jihad..... They are trying to make Hindustan into Darul Islam,” she said.

"When I made the remarks, it was as if the country was hit by a quake. The media said you have sparked an uproar with your remarks on four children. I said I have only advocated four children for Hindus not 40 puppies. And it is important because the country needs it," the saffron clad leader said at a function organised here by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) which "felicitated" Hindus who have more than four children.

Prachi had contested the 2012 Assembly elections on BJP ticket from Purkazi constituency in UP. She was among persons accused of inciting riots through their provocative speeches in Muzaffarnagar in 2013 and was later granted bail.

The BJP was quick to distance itself from Prachi's remarks, saying the party does not agree with such views and is not interested in discussing any such issue.

"The BJP does not agree with any such comment. We do not think that the comments are correct. BJP does not want to discuss any issue other than good governance and even the people are not ready to accept any such discussion.

"Under such circumstances, there is no significance of such remarks," said chief of BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit Laxmikant Bajpai.

He asserted that the leader was not speaking at a party platform. Prachi felicitated 20 persons, who had more than four children at the 'Virat Hindu Sammelan' organised by VHP here yesterday. Those "honoured" included Dwarika Singh, who have 11 children, Rampal Singh and Surnam Singh, who have nine children each.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Sadhvi Prachi said, "Why family planning is implemented for Hindus only."

On "Ghar Wapasi", she said that if 1,400 years ago everyone was Hindu, "UP Urban Development Minister Azam Khan, Jama Masjid's Imam Bukhari, former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and Yusuf Raza Gilani should also do ghar wapasi", a term used for reconverting into Hinduism.

Prachi said that she was not against love but against "Love Jihad". "A campaign is being run to trap Hindu girls in the name of love," she said. The sadhvi had drawn criticism last month over her remarks that Hindu women should have four kids.

"Earlier we used to say 'hum do hamare do'. But now we have started saying that 'sher ka bachcha ek hi achha' (for a lion, one offspring is enough). This is wrong," Prachi had said at a gathering in Bhilwara.

"If there is one child, where all will you send him? To protect the border... or make him a scientist or he will take care of business.... So, we need four children. One can go to protect the borders, one can serve the society, give one to the saints and one to VHP to serve the nation and protect the culture. This is very important," she had said.

Demanding a law to ban forced conversions, Prachi had supported the VHP's 'Ghar Wapsi' or reconversion programme. "If a son is angry due to the some reason and leaves the house, should he not be allowed to return. Should the family not accept him?

"That's why 'Ghar Wapsi' should be supported," she said. Earlier, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj drew criticism when he asked Hindu women to have at least four children, with the opposition accusing BJP of trying to polarise the atmosphere.

BJP on its part had distanced itself from the remarks of Maharaj, who was also served a show cause notice, and urged its workers and public representatives to refrain from making such comments.

Accept Hindu identity or go to Pakistan!

She had also lashed out at All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi and said that all Indians are Hindus and if he cannot accept it, he must move to Pakistan.

"Every child born in India is a Hindu. Owaisi's father was born in India, and is also a Hindu. If Owaisi cannot accept Hindu identity, he must move to Pakistan."

Bengaluru: BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde represented Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha segment in Karnataka for six terms and now gynecologist Anjali Nimbalkar is putting up a spirited fight seeking to turn the tide and "deliver" it for the Congress.

Dr Nimbalkar is taking on former Karnataka Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, who replaced Hegde, in this BJP stronghold.

A former Congress MLA, she lost the Assembly elections from Khanapur in Belagavi district last year.

The 62-year-old Kageri, a six-term MLA and a former minister, was also defeated in the Assembly polls from Sirsi.

"In the past 30 years, the voice of Uttara Kannada was not spoken and not even a single question was asked in the Parliament," Nimbalkar said in an apparent dig at Hegde.

If elected, she said her focus is to address the local issues related to forest dwellers, getting them 'patra' for their own land -- a battle they have been fighting for long.

Also on her priority list is getting a multispecialty hospital in Kumta as per people's demand, generating employment and focusing on tourism for the overall development of Uttara Kannada.

"Issues related to forest dwellers -- they want a 'patra' for their own land -- we will try and put forth these issues in the first session itself and we will see to it that maximum applications which are pending with the Central government get cleared during the first session itself," she said in an interview.

"So, our thing is that at least 50 per cent of the jobs should be given to the local Kannadigas in the Central schemes which are implemented in the district," she said.

Noting that Uttara Kannada has a combination of both beaches and temples, Nimbalkar said the district can be developed internationally in a much higher scale than "what actually Goa or Kerala is".

The Congress candidate is also banking on the five guarantee schemes launched by the Siddaramaiah-led government in Karnataka and the promises made by party in its manifesto at the national level.

Responding to a question, she expressed happiness that the Congress has fielded a total of six women candidates out of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka.

While campaigning, Nimbalkar said she was overwhelmed to see a large number of people, especially women, turning up for her rallies despite the intense heat in Uttara Kannada.

"They are very happy that the Congress has given a woman candidate and an educated candidate who herself is a doctor and a gynecologist. So they are excited that, yes, she can be our voice in the Parliament who can fight for our rights," the 47-year-old said.

"I have worked as an MLA (Khanapur), so they have seen my work in the Assembly and the expectations are like, yes, she will be the one who will be speaking for us and that faith is seen in their eyes," she said.

Nimbalkar strongly believes that when women enter any field, it brings a different perspective - be it in terms of management, policy formulation or even as homemakers.

Uttara Kannada is among the 14 constituencies going for polls in Karnataka under second phase on May 7.

Karnataka has 28 Lok Sabha seats and the first phase of polling was held on April 26.

Madikeri, May 11: Kodagu police have apprehended the man allegedly responsible for the brutal murder of a minor girl within the confines of Kumbaragadige village in Karnataka's Somwarpet taluk.

Kodagu Superintendent of Police, K Ramarajan, disclosed that the arrested individual is Prakash (32) from Hammiyala village in Somwarpet taluk. However, authorities are still in the process of recovering the severed head of the victim. The perpetrator had absconded with the victim's severed head after committing the crime.

Search operations for the suspect commenced late on Thursday night (May 9), with officials diligently pursuing leads. Acting on information suggesting the suspect's presence in a forested area near the village, the police swiftly moved in and apprehended him.

The victim US Meena, 15, a student of Surlabbi High School, had passed the SSLC examinations, the results of which were announced on May. One same day, she was murdered.

Reportedly, the engagement of the minor girl with the suspect was thwarted by officials from the Women and Child Development department. Subsequently, officials persuaded the girl's parents against proceeding with the marriage.

However, despite these interventions, the suspect forcibly entered her residence during the night, purportedly abducted her, and later perpetrated the heinous crime in a wooded area on the outskirts of the forest, before absconding with her severed head.
