Siddaramaiah
Dharwad, Jan 8: A day after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claimed that no charge sheet was filed against newly inducted minister D K Shivakumar, S R Hiremath of the Samaja Parivartana Samudaya on Tuesday mailed the chief minister a copy of the charge sheet filed by the Lokayukta.

Hiremath claimed at a press conference that Lokayukta investigating officer D Palakshaiah had filed a 111-page charge sheet against Shivakumar before a Lokayukta special court on June 21, 2012.

“Law Minister T B Jayachandra and Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee should have informed the chief minister about the charge sheet. But they seemed to have kept the chief minister in the dark,” he said.

Hiremath said he had sent the documents to Siddaramaiah by speed post.

Furnishing details, the social activist said charge sheet number 1/2012 was submitted on June 21, 2012, based on FIR number 26/2012 dated March 27, 2012, filed before the 29th additional district and session's judge in PCR No 11/2012.

Palakshaiah, the erstwhile deputy superintendent of police, City division, Karnataka Lokayukta, Bangalore, had investigated the case.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
