NWF’s exhibition on women’s rights inaugurated

Coimbatore, Nov 15: As part of an awareness campaign of the ‘Awakening Conference’ being organized by National Women’s Front on Sunday, an exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

The theme of the exhibition is “Women’s rights and issues”. It was formally inaugurated by Popular Front of India Tamil Nadu state president A.S. Ismail at 11:30 am.

NWF national president Shahida Aslam, state president Raziya Banu, state vice-president Habeeb Nisa, conference general convener M. Shifa were also present.

The exhibition has been divided into categories: The first category displays introductions of various prominent women personalities and activists. The struggle of these brave women is explained to the audience. Another category presents the contribution of women in India’s freedom struggle.

The exhibition also sheds light on various serious issues and threats surrounding Indian women. The exhibition has different visio-graphics which presents issues like domestic violence, rapes, under-representations, female feticide, human trafficking and riots victims.

The exhibition will be open till 9 p.m. on November 16. The conference committee expects around 1,5000 women to visit the exhibition. Women delegates from Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa and Rajasthan are attending the exhibition and conference, stated a release issued by the organizers.
