Udupi, Mar 3: Continuing to take political advantage of recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir wherein over 40 CRPF jawans were martyred, a senior leader BJP said that all Indians should be behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi at this juncture.

Meenakshi Lekhi, MP and national spokesperson of BJP, who addressed the Panchajanya Samavesha, a public meeting organised by the Namo Bharat organisation on Malpe beach here, said that called PM Modi a strong leader and said that only person like him could provide security to the country and also give a fitting reply to terrorists.

Ms. Lekhi said that the fate of 54 prisoners of war taken into custody by Pakistan during the India-Pakistan war in 1971 was still not known.

She claimed that the powerful response by India had forced Pakistan to release Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman whom it had held captive for a couple of days.

Some psuedo politicians were demanding proof of destruction of terrorist camps during the recent air strikes at Balakot in Pakistan, she said.

These people had demanded proof when India had crossed the Line of Control to eliminate terrorists in Uri in 2016.

She said Pakistan’s policy was to bleed India with several wounds. Hence, it was encouraging terrorist activities in its territory. The terrorist attack on Mumbai on November 26, 2008, was also one of them. But Mr. Modi, who has been decisive, had given a befitting reply to Pakistan whenever it tried to use its terror tactics, she said.

On the one side was the Prime Minister who had given commendable leadership to the country in the past five years and on the other was a shaky “Mahagatbandhan” which was leaderless and visionless. In fact, the progress made by the country in the past five years was much better than that achieved during any five-year term of any government in the country, Ms. Lekhi said.

Shashank Shivathaya, Seetharam Bhat, Chethan Azad, leaders of Namo Bharat, were present.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
