Mangalore, Jul 15: Cops have successfully tracked the mother of the child who was found dead near a lake in Talapady. The police have made all the arrangements to conduct a DNA test to verify if the lady nabbed by them is the mother of the child or not.

Last Tuesday, body of a new born child wrapped in a cloth was found in a decomposed state. Taking up the issue seriously, the locals staged protest demanding the arrest of the ones responsible for the same.
Accordingly the Ullal police, on Saturday, raided a private hospital in Ullal and questioned the doctors, nurses and the owner of the hospital. The cops confiscated the documents from the hospitals, especially those papers which are signed by the patients prior to the abortion procedures.
According to the papers, the police found that the mother hailed from Manjeshwara Mujibail. Following the address written on the paper, the cops nabbed the woman.
Only a DNA test will confirm whether the lady is the mother of the child or not. There are all possibilities of the test being conducted on Monday.
Ullal Inspector Ramesh said that as per the direction of the higher officials, they will proceed with the case. He said that if an abortion is confirmed then cases will be filed against parents of the child and the hospital too.
However speaking to the reporters hospital owner, retired district medical officer T Abdul Khader said that a lady from Majeshwara had come to the hospital seeking abortion, saying that she was three months pregnant and she would not want to keep the child because of harassment from her drunkard husband.
“We subjected her to an ultra-sound and found that she was eight-months pregnant. However, the lady gave birth to the child normally and she left the hospital after stipulated number of days, without giving out any information,” he said.
