Mangaluru, Nov 18: An International multi-gym facility was opened at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), in the city on Tuesday.

The facility, consisting of imported high quality fitness multi-gym equipment, was formally inaugurated by the minister for Fisheries, Youth Affairs & Sports, K Abhayachandra Jain.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said “India is a developing country. Though we have a big market of consumers for technology driven products, we still remain poor innovators. It's the young students who can significantly contribute to the growth of this nation. Students should be involved in all sports and extracurricular activities for overall development.”

Stating that imparting technical education at rural areas is essential, the minister said it was very heartening to see that Bearys group has taken up the initiative of doing it. “I am overwhelmed to see a beautiful campus amidst the serene green mountains,” he said.

The chairman of Bearys group, Syed Mohammed Beary, addressed the gathering and said “Human life is centered on 3 aspects - Physical, mental and spiritual.  It's only at the spiritual center that we don't see any difference related to religion, region, cast and creed. We see only good things which will take us nearer to the creator.” He urged the students to start their day with a prayer and to do their best in the upcoming semester examinations.

Principal of BIT, Dr Palakshappa K, welcomed the gathering and briefed the students about the motivation behind starting an international standard multi-gym within the campus. He requested the students to make full use of this facility and ensure their good health and strength.

Prof Mustafa, HOD –CSE, made a video presentation about the vision, mission, action plans and the facilities available at BIT. Director of campus, Dr Sainath M delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Sheikh Moidin K. M compered.
