JDS slams BJP govt for neglecting flood-affected people

Mysuru, Aug 21: Former Karnataka Minister and Janata Dal(Secular) leader Sa Ra Mahesh today alleged that the BJP Government instead of listening to the grievances of flood affected people first, busy in handing over the phone tapping case to CBI and Ministry formation.

Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said during the floods in Kodagu last year the Congress-JDS coalition government led by Chief Minister H D Kumraswamy provided Rs 10,30,000 to the people who had lost their Houses along with Rs 3800 as directed by NDRF and Rs 50,000 for those who had lost their House hold appliances.

But the present BJP government had reduced to rental amount to Rs 5000 and assured of constructing the Houses at a cost of Rs 5 lakh. People of the State have elected 25 Lok Sabha members from the BJP. They should pressurize the central government to release more funds. "I will discuss with the Chief Minister in this issue", he added.

Heading to Karavali Utsava? Check traffic changes and parking rules in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.

The police have appealed to the public to cooperate by following traffic rules and parking guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
