Mangaluru, Feb 8: Newly published Beary novel 'Suvaad' penned by journalist Hamza Malar was released at a book-release ceremony held at the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy office here on Saturday.
Speaking after releasing the novel, senior researcher Prof B M Ichlamgodu said that works of literature should not be penned merely for the sake of the development of language but also for the welfare of the society.
Beary language being immensely rich, writers from the Beary community should come forward to pen their works in this language for the sake of its development since several Beary writers pen their novels in Kannada language, he said.
Academy president B A Mohammed Haneef presided over the programme. Karnataka Muslim Parishad chairman Haji Hameed Kandak accepted the first copy of the publication. Writer Ismath Fajeer provided an introduction of the book.
Journalist A K Kukkila, Mangalore University former syndicate member P V Mohan and Abdul Rahman Kuttetoor were the chief guests on the occasion.
Academy registrar Umarabba, Ayesha Perla, Yusuf Waqtar, Aliabba Jokatte, M E Mohammed Madikeri, Idinabba Beary and others were present.
