Bengaluru, Nov 21: Justice A M Farooq, a retired judge of Karnataka High Court, whose name was once considered for the post of Lokayukta in 2016, passed away today morning in Bengaluru.

Justice Farooq served as judge of the Karnataka HC from 1995 till he retired after a long innings as state public prosecutor.
He also served as president of the Karnataka Judicial Academy till his retirement and later went on to become chairman of the Karnataka State Appellate Authority.
In 2015, Justice Farooq headed a three member committee to look into the 'G' category site allotment by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
Justice Farook, who started his career as a lawyer in 1968, had worked in the field of law for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, son-in-law Muhammad Nawaz, who is also a judge in Karnataka High Court.
