He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the new college of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University at Koila, here on Sunday.
The CM said that Kadaba is among the 43 places in queue for taluk status, as per the recommendations of the Hundekar, Gaddigowda and Prakash committees.
Kadab town is located 82 k.m. towards East from Mangaluru, the Dakshina Kannada district headquarters and 31 k.m. from Puttur town.
In 2013, ruling BJP government under chief minister Yediyurappa declared Kadaba as Taluk along with Moodbidri, Byndoor and Brahmavar. However, till date taluk formation is not done in spite of the change of the government.
First Grade College

The CM said that the Animal Husbandry Department has given the Veterinary Department 247 acres of its 895 acres and Rs 110 crore will be released for the first phase work.
A veterinary hospital, hostels and farm will also come up on campus. The project hopes to improve animal resource in the state, he said.
The Veterinary Department needs additional 692 veterinary doctors and 300 assistant directors. Steps are being taken to fill the vacancies and 650 veterinary doctors are already appointed, he said.
Mr Siddaramaiah said that his government will sanction a govt first grade college in the next state budget.
Animal Husbandry and Sericulture Minister A Manju said that 60 seats at the Veterinary Sciences University will be reserved for students of the college to be built in Koila.
“The Koila Veterinary College will be developed as a breeding centre of cattle, along with preservation of local varieties of cattle such as Malenadu Gidda. Also, Rs 500 crore is reserved in the state budget for the same,” he said.

Mangaluru: Public transport in Mangaluru is set for a state-led transformation as the government moves to deploy 100 new electric govt buses to replace unreliable private services. The initiative aims to provide a dependable alternative to private operators who have been frequently "cutting trips," leaving thousands of commuters stranded.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner and MCC Administrator Darshan HV during a public phone-in session. The move specifically targets routes where private bus service has become erratic, ensuring that citizens no longer have to rely on a fluctuating private sector for their daily commute.

Restoring the Govt Presence

The transport crisis was brought to the forefront by Ramayya, a resident of Bajal, who highlighted a growing trend of private buses skipping morning and night trips. With the previous KSRTC (govt) services discontinued, residents have been left without a fallback option.

To fix this, the DC confirmed that the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme will bring 100 government-owned electric buses to the city:

•    Phased Deployment: The first 50 of the new 100 government buses are scheduled to arrive by March 2026.

•    State Infrastructure: Two new government depots, including one at Mudipu, are being prepared for operations.

•    Recruitment: The state has already begun training a new batch of government bus drivers to ensure the fleet is operational the moment it arrives.
