Bengaluru, Aug 1: Veteran Congress leader and former Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on Tuesday said he was retiring from active politics and will not contest elections in the future.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Thimmappa, who held Revenue portfolio in the Siddaramaiah government, said he wanted to spend time with his family. Mr. Thimmppa, 85, has also served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. He was also Health and Family Welfare Minister in the S.M. Krishna government. He was elected to the Assembly five times from Sagar constituency in Shivamogga district. He was defeated in the 2018 Assembly elections.
