Puttur, Jan 24: Even after four years after the brutal murder of wife and three children of Kakkoor Venkatramana Bhat from Bettampady village in Puttur taluk, the case has remained unsolved while Venkatramana, who went missing soon after the murders, have still remained untraced.
During this while, it is astounding to note that his wife and three children are alive as per official government records.

On the night of June 3, 2012, a robbery was presumed to have occurred in the house of Venkatramana Bhat, and the next day, his wife teacher Sandhya Bhat (45), daughter Vedya (18), son Harigovind (15) and another daughter Vinuta (12) were found brutally murdered. Soon after the discovery, Venkatramana was found missing and there has been no trace of him till date.
Following the brutal murder, a skeleton was found close to the house sparking speculation that the skeleton was that of Venkatramana. However, it could not be confirmed that the skeleton was his.
Even after four years after they were murdered, they have been registered as alive according to the official records related to the revenue department.
Since it is the responsibility of the surviving family members of the death of a person, no information has been submitted to the gram panchayat in this regard as four members of the family are dead while the remaining member has been untraced. Hence, the family of Kakkoor Bhat is still alive on records.
