Bengaluru, Jun 4: Accusing the Congress and the Janata Dal(S) of going against people’s mandate, Pralhad Joshi, Member of Parliament from Dharwad and former Karnataka BJP president, predicted that the state may face another Assembly polls along with 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at a programme in Dharward to mark the fourth anniversary of NDA rule in the country and also a thanksgiving ceremony for party workers in Dharwad on Sunday, Mr. Joshi said that the differences between the coalition partners would soon result in dissolution of the Assembly.
He said that there was every chance that the State might go to the polls again along with the Lok Sabha elections and the onus was now on the party workers to make the Lotus bloom once again in Karnataka and also in the country.
The former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said that the results of the Dharwad Assembly constituency had proved that voters could do a miracle if they made up their mind. He said that a former Minister who was busy dividing society on caste lines was taught a bitter lesson by the people who have made him sit at home for the next five years.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Shettar said that Mr. Kumaraswamy had entered into an unholy alliance with Congress because he was hungry for power. However, he had forgotten the promises he had made to the farmers on loan waiver, once he came to power, he said.
The former Minister and Shiggaon MLA Basavaraj Bommai said that the new government was apathetic towards North Karnataka and a majority of the portfolios had been given to MLAs from South Karnataka.
