Bangalore, Mar 9: Only eight candidates among the sitting Congress Lok Sabha members in Karnataka have been guaranteed tickets in the first list of 194 candidates.

Among others, the Congress' first list has named 14 candidates Karnataka, 17 from West Bengal, 50 from Uttar Pradesh, 10 from Assam, 10 from Bihar, nine from Odisha, seven candidates from Haryana, six from Jharkhand, four from Punjab, two each from Manipur and Tripura and one each from Andaman and Nicobar, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
Interestingly, the name of union minister M Veerappa Moily, who is currently representing Karnataka 's Chikkaballapur constituency, does not figure in first list. The delay in finalizing Moily 's name has triggered curiosity in the wake of widespread protest against Nethravati river diversion project.
The list also includes six new faces from Karnataka. The candidate for Dakshina Kannada constituency is expected to be finalized today as the result of Congress primary election will be announced by the evening.
The 14 MP candidates who have secured Congress tickets from Karnataka are:
