Belagavi, Dec 19: The Karnataka Assembly approved supplementary estimates for Rs 6980.90 crores, to meet several additional expenditure Including Rs 2600 crore towards farm loan waiver scheme and Rs 1992 crore for Public Works Department, amidst the opposition BJP members staging a walkout here on Tuesday.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who also holds Finance portfolio, in reply to a debate on the supplementary estimates defended saying that a major portion goes to farm Loan waiver scheme announced by the coalition government.
Maintaining that there is nothing special in seeking approval for the supplementary budget, he said that “I am not setting a new precedent In seeking endorsement of the House. The state government has not violated the Fiscal Discipline Act.
