Mangaluru, Mar 15: A measure announced in the Karnataka State Budget 2017 would bring great relief to thousands of non-resident Indians from Karnataka.

In fact this is one of the recommendations of Karnataka Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Committee, which had also demanded a dedicated forum for Non-Resident Kannadigas similar to Norka (Non-Resident Keralites Affairs department).
Besides, the CM has shown interest in the overall development of Mangaluru International Airport. He said that the state government will submit a proposal to the Centre for the expansion of runway at Mangaluru Airport including acquisition of 286 acres of land.
The budget has also set aside Rs 50 crore for development of 2.50-kms road on Mangaluru-Athradi State Highway connecting the Airport at Kenjar.
CM said while assuring that the state government will provide necessary facilities for this much touted project.
