Mangaluru, Aug 10: The Karnataka government is now set to deport 107 foreign nationals from African countries arrested in July by the Bengaluru police and officials from the Foreign Regional Registration Office.
While 101 among them were arrested for overstaying and visa term violations, the other six were held on charges of them possessing narcotic substances.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister G. Parameshwara told presspersons here on Friday that arrangements have been made to deport them shortly. The government would pay their flight tickets and the fares would be recovered from the respective embassies and consulates.
He said that the government is taking the stay of illegal immigrants, including from Bangladesh, in the State seriously. The government is verifying the documents of those from Bangladesh. They would be deported if their stay was found illegal.
