Udupi, Oct 29: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala called on Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swami, the chief pontiff of Pejawar Mutt on Tuesday at the Mutt premises.
The seer, who had to travel till Bangalore and knock on the door of Raj Bhavan to meet the governor during the tenure of Hans Raj Bhardwaj, was surprised to see the new governor at the Mutt.
Sources said that besides blessings Vajubhai also received some apolitical tips from the veteran Hindu spiritual leader, who also has close relationship with several BJP stalwarts.
The two leaders held talks on various social, religious and political issues of Karnataka, source said.
Vajubhai, who served as the Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2014 and Cabinet Minister in the Government of Gujarat, holding various portfolios, such as Finance, Labour and Employment, from 1998 to 2012, is said to be a devotee of Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji.
A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh poster boy, Vajubhai was appointed as the Governor of Karnataka in September 2014.
